Pedro Coronel at Bellas Artes

Mexico's Ministry of Culture and the National Institute of Fine Arts and Literature [INBAL], through the Museum of the Palace of Fine Arts, present the exhibition "Pedro Coronel; 100 years, an infinite route." [ Pedro Coronel 100 años. Una ruta infinita ] The exhibition follows the discovery of the correct date of birth of Pedro Coronel (Zacatecas, 1921 - Mexico City, 1985). It was actually two years earlier than previously believed. The exhibition was put together to commemorate the newly understood centennial of his birth. Painter and sculptor, Pedro Coronel explored the visual arts until he reached a less and less figurative language. It was the result of an ongoing back and forth between figuration and abstraction. Finally he achieved a radical abstract synthesis and an unmistakable style.
