Cuernavaca RR Bikeway

The Cuernavaca RR Bikeway is a remarkable rails-to-trails initiative. It follows a famous, even beloved, old railroad route. It used to regularly connect Mexico City to Cuernavaca in the bordering state of Morelos.

Today, bicyclists take advantage of the route to connect with many part of the City. Even better, the natural south of the city is closer than ever. The bikeway, after connecting with many of the most iconic parts of the city, then dives into a natural protected area.

Beginning in Polanco, the ciclopista rural continues across much of Tlalpan in the south. The rural part is two meters wide with two lanes.

A complete round trip is 60 km, and several service stations provide bike repairs along the way. Along more urban sections, riders need to exercise a correspondingly higher level of caution. Nevertheless, the Cuernavaca RR Bikeway is an integral part of Mexico City's effort to expand bicycle access and safety.
