Frida Kahlo

Frida Kahlo (1907-1954) spent most of her life in Mexico City. Today, it's not difficult to judge her as Mexico's most important 20th century artist.

Enigmatic, and still elusive, her stature has only continued to grow in the 70 years since her death.

A walk through Frida Kahlo's Coyoacán is a must after any visit to the Museum that was her home. So is a trip through oldest Xochimilco.

But the truth is, Kahlo's influence is evident everywhere in Mexico City. Her beliefs are today largely our own beliefs. Her experience is now shared by city residents with only a passing interest in the arts.

From the gardens of San Ángel northward to the furthest reaches of the Indios Verdes Cablebus, her perspective and vision of the City seems to only come into clearer focus. The more we learn of Kahlo, the more we appreciate the world she's left to us.
