UNAM University Cultural Center

The UNAM University Cultural Center is a giant complex within the CU campus. It’s among the most important theater and performance spaces in the country. But at home here also are:

  • University Museum of Contemporary Art (MUAC)
  • Miguel Covarrubias Hall
  • José Revueltas and Julio Bracho Cinema Complex
  • Carlos Chavez Chamber Music Hall
  • Juan Ruiz de Alarcón theater
  • Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz Forum
  • Nezahualcoyotl Performance Hall
  • University Theater Center
  • and the Sculpture Space, where a series of sculptures blend into the sea of lava, resulting from the eruption of Xitle.

The UNAM University Cultural Center complex originated between 1976 and 1980 when most of the above were built. The National Library and Newspaper Library, the Institute of Bibliographic Research, and the Institute of Research on the University and Education are also within the complex.
