Biquini Wax EPS is an independent arts project space. The group consists of artists, writers, poets, filmmakers, and creators of all media. A frequent host of happenings and similar events, the space is used to house and exhibit the results of many of their creative get-togethers.

Today in the Colonia Iztaccihuatl, the group has participated in a number of important art fairs and events in Mexico City. Most notable have been a few instances of the February Material Arts Fair.

The space is entirely collective. One important contributor has been Paloma Contreras Lomas although she will seldom take credit for it. A graduate of the National School of Painting, Sculpture and Engraving “La Esmeralda,” she’s also shown at Pequod Co., also part of this year’s Gallery Weekend. Like most project spaces in Mexico City, and elsewhere, the emphasis is on the artist presently being exhibited.

The Iztaccihuatl space will be undoubtedly lit up for the Gallery Weekend, but it’s important to check the Biquini Wax Instagram account for current goings-on.
