Deportivo El Vivero Cuautepec

deportivo Vivero Cuatepec

The El Vivero Cuautepec Sports Complex highlights a 40-year push by residents of the area to improve the quality of life in their neighborhoods. Far in the north of the City, the complex is high in the Cuautepec Valley. With the opening of Cablebús Line in 2021, it got a lot closer.  Today, it’s a major park tucked down between the northnmost peaks of the Sierra de Guadalupe.

The park borders the Guayabos entrance to the protected area of the Sierra de Guadalupe. Today it’s home to numerous sports fields, plus a cultural center, lots of green areas. 2021 improvements to the park included:

  • A football field
  • Baseball field
  • Multipurpose court
  • Jogging track
  • 300 meters of skatepark
  • Extensive green areas
  • Paved walkways and sitting areas

The project also included planting almost 12,000 trees. Surrounding it all are all those peaks, and the fact that nature is now welcomed back into so much of Cuautepec may be the park’s most inviting feature.

El Vivero is beyond the furthest reaches of the Cablebús, at Cuautepec. And getting there means walking at least some of the areas twisted and charming streets. The 850 meters can be walked in about 12 minutes. Views may be distracting, but the neighborhood is as enchanting as Mexico City gets.
