The Flux / Zone Gallery is the answer to a lot of peoples’ prayers: a thoughtful, engaged contemporary gallery in a rich historic district. As a curatorial initiative, the gallery aims to be a space for critical thinking and social commitment. Artists represented come from a variety of backgrounds and work in traditional and non-traditional media.

The gallery was co-founded by Delmari Romero Keith and Manuel Aaron Jiménez Barragán in 2014. The initiative was intended to reflect and recognize artists thoroughly immersed in the complexities of contemporary culture.

The curatorial staff have presented a selection of Mexican and international artists. The strength is in a mix of traditional styles that could be mis-interpreted as merely commercial. In fact, the gallery has a stronger mix of experimental, surrealist and important early 20th-century art than might be immediately apparent.

Flux / Zone also benefits from a strong sidewalk culture. People are coming and going everyday. The gallery is an integral part of the Center of San Ángel. It’s already one of the most popular areas for Sunday strolls and weekday coffees. Those on the way to the San Jacinto Plaza or any of the nearby attractions do well to stop in.
