Galería Luis Adelantado México

Open - Limited Services / Capacity

The Galería Luis Adelantado México originated with the headquarters which opened in 1985 in Valencia, Spain. Even then, it was entirely focused on contemporary art. Many of the curated group exhibitions in Valencia have been noted across the art world.

The Mexico City space opened in 2009. The team immediately faced the challenge of forming a close relationship with the cultural fabric of Mexico and the City. The new gallery, at more than 3,00 square meters is located close to traditional Polanco, but actually in the far more hip post-industrial Anáhuac neighborhood. Some will note that it’s often referred to as the “New Polanco.” That’s what’s allowed for the giant space, and even bigger better exhibitions.

The Gallery maintains a marked interdisciplinary character. This has meant that exhibitions are open to multiple possibilities for dialogue, and on-site projects are an important part of the programming. The Galería Luis Adelantado México has also been proactive in developing the careers and work of some of the younger artists. This has been through residency programs, as well as through an extensive outreach program.

Gallery artists are represented in important private collections, museums, and foundations in Europe, the U.S., and in Latin America. The gallery has taken part in international fairs including Art Basel Miami, the Chicago Art Fair, Art Basel, and Zona MACO, among others.
