Metro Miguel Ángel de Quevedo is one of the most photographed stations on Metro Line 3. It’s a complex and curious underground station, with lots of curious places to be captured photographically. Unfortunately, it’s also relatively difficult to leave through your preferred exit on a first try.

Tips: On the border of the Álvaro Obregón and Coyoacán alcaldias, the busy intersection up top can make the station one of the more confusing to exit.

Aggravating the confusion, all three exits from Metro Miguel Ángel de Quevedo are on Avenida Universidad.

The station is named for the avenue above, which is in turn named for the engineer and architect, Miguel Ángel de Quevedo. Known in his time as the “The Apostle of the Tree”, Quevedo (1862-1946) dedicated much of his life to the care and research of trees and forests. The Viveros de Coyoacán is probably best reached via the Metro station of the same name. But from here, one can still walk to the park, or along avenida Miguel Ángel de Quevedo.

The island in the center of the traffic circle is but one of multiple public sculptures. In this case, a pair of coyotes refer to the neighborhood name. Other 3-D works adorn the median in the center of avenida Miguel Ángel de Quevedo. The Oasis Coyoacán is just one of the first destinations on the avenue. Even closer, the multiple flagship (i.e.; giant) book shops set the tone for the neighborhood.
