The Nuestra Señora de Lourdes Church (Our Lady of Lourdes) is a church in Lomas de Reforma. One of the few churches in the city to offer mass in both English and Spanish, it’s a well-loved community parish.

Completed in 1957, it is one of the most prominent of works by the exiled Spanish architect, Julio de la Jara Alcocer. Born in Madrid in 1934, Jara Alcocer is among several generations of Spanish architects to make an impact on Mexican architecture overall. In fact, some 20th-century ecclesiastical architecture stands among the most visible structures in the country. Mainstream functionalist, rationalist, and internationalist movements in 20th-century architecture simply don’t stand out like some of these wildly experimental churches.

From inside, the church is a striking modernist interpretation of what and how a church could and should perform its primary function. International visitors will find the interior inspiring and a place to catch one’s breath.

The Church of Nuestra Señora de Lourdes serves the communities of Lomas Altas, Lomas de Reforma, and Real de las Lomas. It’s visible from a number of different directions, and carries on mass and similar community services throughout the calendar year.
