Punto México is a visitors’ information center on the groundfloor of the offices of the Federal Secretary of Tourism. On Polanco’s famous Avenida Maseryk, they couldn’t have asked for a better retail space. It’s one of the most successful comercial thoroughfares in the City. The space is dedicated entirely to promoting the 32 Mexican states as destinations for vacation, travel, exploring, and learning.
The space holds 102 interactive 360° tours of the Republic. Visitors get to control images as they appear on multiple screens and scroll through them as they wish. The set-up gives special emphasis to the Pueblos Magicos, Mexico’s popular Magical Towns. Plus there are beaches, archaeological sites, museums, and nature reserves of special interest throughout Mexico. It’s a big country and this is probably the most informative single place to get information on all of it.
Punto México also presents permanent exhibitions. These include important artisan works from each of the 32 states. There’s information on traditional costumes, culinary offers, and a section of books. Wine, mezcal, and tequila tours seem particularly popular. Staff are also on hand to offer advice on lodging, activities, museums, flights, road tripss and anything necessary to get to and stay in any part of Mexico.
