Parque Rosendo Arnaiz

The Parque Rosendo Arnaiz is an important park in Santa María Nonoalco. Just a stone’s throw from Metro San Antonio, it’s a great contributor to the area’s overall well-being.

  • Rosendo Arnaiz (1890-1945) was a promoter of organized sport and gaming in Mexico. Born in San Martín de las Pirámides in the State of Mexico, he founded the Mexican International Sports Club. He later led all of the Mexican athletes to the Olympics in Paris in 1924, in Amsterdam in 1928, and in Berlin in 1936. He became an active participant in the formation of the Mexican Olympic Committee.

The park is home to a memorial Melvin Jones, the founder of the Leones Football Club. It consists of a fantastic pride of stone lions, among the plaques and beneath a pillar. There are also important kids areas, football fields and a PILARES cultural and education center.
